Angove Family Crest McLaren Vale GSM 2024 - 6 Bottles

Overview

The Angove Family Crest Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre (GSM) 2022 is a distinctive red blend that showcases the unique terroir of McLaren Vale. Crafted by Angove Family Winemakers, this wine embodies the region's Mediterranean climate, resulting in a wine that is both expressive and balanced.

Winemaking

Sourced from premium vineyards in McLaren Vale, the Grenache comes from old vines in the sandy soils of Blewitt Springs, while the Shiraz is from the exposed slate and quartz slopes of the Sellicks Hills. The Mourvèdre is sourced from the loam soils of the Sellicks Foothills. The wine was aged for 20 months in large French oak vats, puncheons, and hogsheads, allowing for subtle oak integration and the preservation of fruit purity.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Bright garnet red with purple hues.

  • Aroma: Lifted aromas of cherry, damson plum, star anise, and pepper, with subtle hints of vanilla.

  • Palate: A harmonious blend of cherry, toffee, and plum flavors, offering a soft, full, and rounded texture.

  • Finish: A balanced and persistent finish that highlights the wine's depth and complexity.

Food Pairing

This GSM blend pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, including roast lamb, grilled meats, hearty stews, and aged cheeses.
